Youngster Completes Portsmouth Move

21-year-old midfielder Adam Reed has completed a move to Portsmouth. Though initial reports suggested it would be a permanent deal, Reed has instead joined the south coast outfit on a month-long loan.

As reported by SAFC.com this evening, Reed will be looking to gain some much needed first team experience at the League One outfit.

Portsmouth, FA Cup winners as recently as 2008, find themselves deeply embroiled in their second relegation battle in as many seasons, lying one place from the bottom of the third tier.

As a result, Reed will be pitched straight into a struggle for survival - something that can only help in his quest to prove his mettle to the Sunderland hierarchy.

Having undergone previous loan spells at Brentford, Leyton Orient and Bradford City without ever really catching the eye, Reed will be hoping this month-long deal can help him in securing a brighter future for himself - be it on Wearside or elsewhere.

Reed has featured prominently for Sunderland's Under-21 side this term, notching three goals in eleven appearances.
