Reports: Defender Off In The Next 24 Hours

Young defender Blair Adams, currently away on loan at Coventry City, looks likely to join the Sky Blues on a permanent deal very soon.

Once promising defender Blair Adams looks like he will have his time on Wearside ended permanently as Coventry City look to snap him up on a permanent deal.

With Adams' contract expiring at the end of the season and the chances of game time at the Stadium Of Light incredibly slim, an exit was always on the cards.

Sky Blues manager Mark Robins spoke last night to the Coventry Telegraph, and was hopeful a deal could be done in time for him to play against Oldham this weekend;

We're in negotiations with Blair and if all goes well he will be our player within the next 24 hours which would obviously be great news for us.

It seems incredibly likely that the deal will go through given just days ago Adams expressed his pleasure at playing at the Ricoh Arena to the same paper

I just want to carry on playing for Coventry to help keep the good run going. I am really happy at the club and would love to stay.

It is really up to Sunderland but I would be delighted if something could be sorted.

Adams looked at one stage one of the more promising graduates of the Academy Of Light, but a lack of chances in the first team has meant he has had to go on loan on a regular basis. Adams impressed for England at the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia a few years ago, and should be a very solid signing for the Sky Blues.

It's unfortunate that he hasn't had a look in here, but these things happen and we wish him well.
