Sunderland have been drawn with near neighbours Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the Capital One Cup after the draw was made following last night's conclusion of the third round.
Sunderland were drawn with the 'Boro in last years FA Cup in what proved to be two tricky ties. We were first held at home in a 1-1 draw where Fraizer Campbell had to bail us out, before going down to the Riverside and requiring extra time to defeat them.
It also opens up a familiar debate about whether or not this game is a derby match. Yes, it is... If you're a Middlesbrough fan.
Our opponents have fared well in the Capital One Cup so far this season, taking on all their opponents away from home and coming away with victories - Bury, Gillingham and most recently Preston North End where they managed to make eleven changes and still come away with the win.
The games are set for the week commencing the 29th of October, with ticket details and an actual date to be announced soon.
