Keiren Westwood - 6
Hard really to judge the Irish International's performance as he was rarely tested with the home side restricted to long range speculative efforts.
Craig Gardner - 7
Another good display for our stand-in right back who complemented his solid defensive display with another stunning freekick to open the scoring.
David Meyler - 7
Despite surprising us all with his selection in the centre of defence it has to be said that the Irishman did well given the circumstances and was relatively solid at the back winning a number of headers.
Matthew Kilgallon - 6
A quiet night for Matty who's name only really crept up when he attempted an outrageous thirty-five yarder having chipped the ball over a defender, have to admire his confidence on that one!
Danny Rose - 7
The young on loan left back continues to impress and came close to grabbing the man of the match award with another solid performance offering plenty of attacking intent.
David Vaughan - 6
A quiet night for the Welshman although the game will have done wonders for him going forward in the league season.
Jack Colback - 6
Kept things ticking over in the middle of the park. Combined well with Saha in the first half as the forward tried to unleash him however a pullback on Colback went unpunished from the referee.
Lee Cattermole - 4
A disappointing red card could well have put his side in danger of crashing out of the cup. A real shame given Lee's good start to the season and he will now be missing for some key fixtures.
James McClean - 7
The kind of performance we have come to expect from the young lad. Hopefully he has now put his iffy form to bed now and will kick on from here.
Stephane Sessegnon - 6
A busy first half with a speculative half-chance on goal. Faded in the second before being substituted but definitely signs of improvement.
Louis Saha - 7
Led the line well, had a number of chances which he was unlucky to see at least not one hit the back of the net and was also useful in defence fending away a number of MK Dons' corners.
Adam Johnson - 5
A late run out was given to the England International which will have done his recuperation the world of good. Not enough time to make any real impact.
Man Of The Match: Craig Gardner
Another solid display from Gardner - in his unfavoured position, but rapidly becoming his best. His freekick in the second half was nothing short of magnificent, with the type of swerve Cristiano Roanldo would have been proud of. Another really good performance as he continues to transform from 'boo boy' in some quarters to a solid and dependable fans favourite.
