David Meyler Among Irish Contingent Called Up For Ireland

David Meyler has been called into the Irish national team for the first time since 2010.

David Meyler has been named in the Ireland squad for the up coming 2014 World Cup Qualifier away in Kazakhstan on the 7th of September and the home friendly clash with Oman on the 11th of September. Meyler replaces Darron Gibson who has pulled out through injury.

This represents the second time Meyler has been called up for the squad, having been called up in 2010 for friendlies with Algeria and Paraguay, although he is yet to make his senior international bow having been forced to withdraw last time around with a knee injury.

Also in the squad are the now regular faces of Keiren Westwood who will be looking to cement his place as the team's No.1 'keeper following Shay Given's retirement. James McClean also makes the squad, as does John O'Shea as usual.

John Egan hasn't had much of a look in as of late, but has once again made the Irish Under-21 squad and will likely start for Noel King's side against Hungary and Italy next week.
