Another Sunderland player will be missing from training and taking in some international friendly action on the eve of the season as Simon Mignolet has been called up by Belgium boss Marc Wilmots for next weeks friendly against Holland.

The 23-year old goalkeeper is now firmly established as the sides number one keeper, and will be looking to cement a place of his own in the Sunderland squad next season, if he can keep Keiren Westwood at bay.

Mignolet will be looking to make his eleventh appearance for his country when the sides meet in Brussels next Wednesday.

Other notable Sunderland players away during the break include the Irish trio of John O'Shea, James McClean and Keiren Westwood. Phil Bardsley has also been called up by Scotland for their game with Australia.

Supposed target of Sunderland's, Vurnon Anita, is in the Dutch squad for the game, making for an interesting encounter between the sides. From a Sunderland perspective anyway.
