Sunderland have wasted no time in replacing Kieran Richardson and have as widely expected made a move for Tottenham Hotpsur utility man Danny Rose, who joins the club on a season-long loan deal.
It had been widely speculated that Rose would be the choice to come in and fill the left back position after Richardson moved to Fulham earlier in the day, and a move for Croatian fullback Ivan Strinic fell through due to other injury problems at Dnipro.
Rose has been highly rated after bursting on to the scene with an incredible goal against Arsenal a few years ago for Spurs, but since then his career has flat-lined slightly, being loaned out to the likes of Watford, Peterborough United and Bristol City while failing to make a significant breakthrough at White Hart Lane.
A regular for England Under-21's, this was expected to be a big year for Rose as he took the number three shirt at Spurs from Gareth Bale, but has yet to make an appearance for the club. Rose also represented Great Britain at the summer's Olympics, playing in four games.
I can't honestly say I know a great deal about Rose - nobody away from Tottenham really can - but we are assured by fans and writers who cover the side that Rose does have a good degree of quality about him.
I guess we ourselves will have to wait and see. Rose will go straight into the squad to face Swansea City tomorrow, and we wish him all the best.
