It hasn't been unexpected - in fact most would probably say it has been long overdue - but it appears that Martin O'Neill has finally made his move for his top striker target.
Sky Sports News have reported via the medium of the yellow breaking news ticker that 'Sunderland have tabled a bid for Wolves striker Steven Fletcher'.

There is not much information out there right now other than that, sadly. No mention of the size of the bid or of Wolves' inclination to accept it.
Despite a plethora of forwards being linked with the club this summer, it has always appeared that all roads ultimately led to Steven Fletcher. His was the strongest link from the start of the summer, with some of the local press even suggesting that Martin O'Neill took the opportunity to sound out the midlands club over his future when the two sides met at the Stadium Of Light towards the end of last season.
Fletcher wouldn't be the big and glamorous name that many fans would have been hoping for, but his record suggests he could be an effective one nonetheless. It is news that we are certainly welcoming here, anyway.
Sure there will be plenty of news to follow on this one, and we'll try and keep the story updated as and when that happens.
