Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Louis Saha has opened the door to a potential move to Sunderland today after admitting that the club are an option for him.
It was widely reported last night that Sunderland have been looking at the free agent striker after his release by Spurs this summer, and now Saha has had this to say on the matter;
I would consider going to Sunderland. Anything can happen in the transfer market, though, it's always a tense time. It's all about making the right choices and the nice thing is to have options.
Any potential signing of Saha is likely to split opinions from Sunderland fans. On one hand he's free, has plenty of experience leading the line, and has scored goals wherever he's been at. On the other, he's getting on a bit and is incredibly injury prone.
Personally speaking, and not for the rest of the site, I'd actually welcome the move. We could do with the experience up front given Ji Dong-Won is inexperienced, and could be loaned out. Connor Wickham similarly but with injury problems leaving only Stephane Sessegnon who isn't a striker by trade and Fraizer Campbell who has been inconsistent.
It's not likely that Saha would be the only new striker to join the club anyway as it seems likely Steven Fletcher will one day arrive too to provide competition and/or relief for Saha.
