The Roker Roundup: May 1st 2012 - Sessegnon Wants To Stay, But It's Au Revoir Riveros

It's not about where you've been, but where you're NEWSing.
It's not about where you've been, but where you're NEWSing.

Oooh would you look at that, it's a brand new month. Unfortunately that month is May, and means the season is nearly over. Which is of course, rubbish. Until then though there's all kinds of things going on in the world of SAFC still, and we're wrapping today's up with The Roker Roundup.

Today being the 1st of May, and today is actually one of the most memorable in the clubs history as in 1937, this very day, we lifted the FA Cup for the first time after defeating Preston North End 3-1. Scorers on the day included club legends Raich Carter, Bobby Gurney and Eddie Burbanks.

Back to today's news though, here's what's been happening...

First off, some great news as it looks like Stephane Sessegnon wants to stay at the club! Rejoice! Throw a street party! Do something!.. Anyway, yes, he's said he's very happy here and is enjoying playing for the club as he feels there's unfinished business. He's not going anywhere yet - CLICK HERE

In what's sure to make him happy too, he also landed the Player Of The Year award at the Supporters Association Awards yesterday. James McClean scooped the Young Player award - CLICK HERE

One player who has definitely left is Cristian Riveros, who has joined Kayserispor in Turkey on a permanent deal for an 'undisclosed' fee. Farewell Cristian, we'll always have West Ham I suppose - CLICK HERE

It looks as though Wayne Bridge is heading out of the club too as O'Neill has apparently prioritised a new left-back over the summer to compete with Kieran Richardson. Hopefully, not to replace him - CLICK HERE

Bolton Wanderers striker and slayer of Matt Kilgallon, Kevin Davies, has ruled out the possibility that he'd ever come to the Stadium Of Light and wants to stay at Bolton for the foreseeable future. Works for me, I didn't particularly want him in January anyway - CLICK HERE

Meanwhile there'll be further hell on as Ryan Noble says he'd love to return to Hartlepool United next season, where the young striker is currently on loan. Experience can't do him any harm, and he needs games he won't get at Sunderland at the moment - CLICK HERE
