It's 6:30pm, and that means only one thing... It's time for The Roker Roundup! Your nightly source of SAFC news, views, opinions and articles from around the interwebs.
Today is April the 19th, and on this day in 1913 the lads headed to Crystal Palace to take on Aston Villa in the FA Cup Final. We lost 1-0, but it was played before a record crowd of 120,081. Quite incredible. Oh, and not only that, but it's my birthday today. Presents need not be large, only expensive. Cheques also accepted.
Anyway back to today's SAFC news...
I've no idea what it is about this site, Liverpool-Kop, but it seems every week they discuss making a bid for Stephane Sessegnon. The problem is, they target him at a ridiculously low price. The other week he was a "£8m" target, now this week he's a £15m target. Well at least they've got that better, but sadly the deluded masses on Merseyside see him as a replacement for Stewart Downing, when it's painfully obvious Sess is better through the middle - CLICK HERE
The Reserves crashed out of the Reserve League Cup at Derby County yesterday 3-2. A very young side, containing only Craig Gordon & Craig Lynch with first team experience, battled well, but ultimately came up short - CLICK HERE
Wolves have warned other clubs off sniffing around their better players such as the recently linked to us, Steven Fletcher and Karl Henry. This kind of pleases me to be honest, I'd like to see us aim a bit higher than those two from the relegated side - CLICK HERE
As revealed last week by Scott Wilson, and now today by the Daily Mail's Colin Young, we will be offloading Cristian Riveros and George McCartney this summer. Although contrary to earlier reports, I'm sure Riveros is out of contract at the end of the season, so not sure where this £500k is coming from - CLICK HERE
Another out the exit door, as we told you the other day, could well be Ahmed Elmohamady. The Egyptian has told the Sunderland Echo that he's been told he's in the managers plans for the final few games of the season, but is admittedly leaning towards an exit - CLICK HERE
Betfair have come up with some top class OPTA stats on this weekend's game, so if you want to arm yourself with stats and stuff to impress your friends, go have a read - CLICK HERE
