The Week That Was: Extensive SAFC v Liverpool Buildup, And More!

Ah hello there, it's Saturday morning, and for the hungover heads around the North East we've rounded up all our build-up into one neat package so you can pick and choose what you actually want to read this week. So let's just get on with that...

Plus of course there's betting tips, a classic game relived, some top tunes to get you in the mood and a host of other features. If you haven't checked it out before, then you're missing out. Get yourself over there pronto - CLICK HERE
  • Cult Heroes: The feature in which David Boyle takes a look at a player who played for both us and them, and regardless of what they did for the opposition, deserve some praise for their time with the lads. It's always an interesting one, so head on over now to see who's been inducted to this elite group - CLICK HERE
  • Podcast: If reading is just too much for you, check out our podcast. It's really rather good, and you cal let our dulcet tones take you on a voyage from the Tyne -Wear derby right through to this weekends game against Liverpool. There's multiple ways to listen by heading to this link - CLICK HERE
  • Fan Focus: It would be unfair for us to do so much comprehensive build-up to the game without talking to someone from the opposition and letting them have their say, so we've done just that. In fact, we do it every week, but here's this week's edition of the well regarded feature - CLICK HERE

If you think that's us spent for the week, think again, there's much more been going on, and it's all listed below, right here...

On Monday we decided to take a tactical look at the game against Newcastle. There's didn't actually appear to be too much by way of tactics on show in what was a feisty encounter, but nonetheless, Karl Jones has provided some pretty comprehensive analysis as to what went down...

I'm sure everyone at some point has picked on Michael Turner. I'll hold my hands up and admit I have in the past, but whilst browsing some stats on our defenders, you couldn't help but notice that Turner has been among the best of the bunch this season. Need more explanation? Head here...

We also made time for a Roker Ramble this week, and the subject chosen was the situation at Chelsea under Roman Abramovich, and the subsequent firing of Andre Villas-Boas. From our position, it seems a very silly decision, and it makes you wonder who, if anyone, will take the position now...

There once was a time when Mark Hughes was neck and neck with Martin O'Neill for the job here at Sunderland. Thank God we never went down that route. Dan Williams takes a look at what might have happened, had we decided not to go with Marty...

Danny Boy also popped in with a spot of poetry all about the Tyne-Wear derby. Dan with his unique talents managed to produce a masterpiece about the game. Pardew might appreciate Dan making an 'ugly' game beautiful...

Chris Weatherspoon was taken off Talking Tactics duty this week having done two last week, just thought we'd give him a little bit of a break and put him on the Top Ten duty. Following a great display at the weekend which only yielded a point, Chris has taken a look at the top ten SAFC performances where we didn't actually win...

Karl Jones popped along this week to give us a view on Lee Cattermole. Arguing (quite rightly) that his own stupidty shouldn't overshadow what a great season he's having. Even backed up with some stats too, for the benefit of a Mr A. Pardew of Ponteland among others...

And of course we'll have a match report later today, our latest column for The Durham Times tomorrow, and each and every weekday night at 6:30pm you can get your fix of the latest SAFC news in The Roker Roundup.
