It's 6:30 in the evening, so you know you're headed here for your nightly news roundup. Unless it's a weekend, in which case we can't be arsed, but thank you for joining us once again for another Roker Roundup - Your one stop shop for anything remotely interesting and SAFC related we've found during the day. Basically sorting the wheat from the chaff so you don't have to.
So let's see what's been happening today, Thursday February 9th. A day in history when in 1964 The Beatles made their legendary appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, Joe Pesci celebrates his birthday, and in 1980, Stan Cummins scored four goals against Burnley in a 5-0 romp.
Speaking of SAFC, let's get down to the news...
So the transfer window may well be shut, but that doesn't stopplayers being linked. The latest one being Rakish Bingham (nope, us neither) from Wigan Athletic. Apparently we're rivaling Rangers and Fulham for his signature. There's a very, very brief article here - CLICK HERE
At the North East Football Writers Awards, Our lord and saviour Niall Quinn was the winner of the inaugural Personality Of The Year award. Well done Niall, you do indeed have a great personality. For more - CLICK HERE
With everyone wanting to be quiet about Stephane Sessegnon, for some strange reason people thinking that might turn him to want to join a bigger club or something, it's nice to see that he's perfectly happy at SAFC, as he was quick to point out in the Evening Chronicle. So much so in fact he's actually "loving it" at the moment - CLICK HERE
James McClean's fine form isn't just benefiting Sunderland, there's plenty of eyes on him across the Irish Sea as he sits on the verge of a call-up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad. Not least in Derry City, as the club we signed him from are championing his international credentials, not least because they'd receive further payment on our summer transaction - CLICK HERE
Nicklas Bendtner was in the news yesterday for speeding, and it's not getting much better for the Dane, as he and Lee Cattermole have been charged with vandalism for their altercation with some parked cars earlier this season. Here's hoping it's all dealt with quickly, and they are punished accordingly - CLICK HERE
Fabio Capello has resigned if you've been living under a rock. Despite virtually ruling himself out of the running post-Middlesbrough, Jamie Carragher obviously didn't get the message has he gushed to TalkSport that Martin O'Neill would be a great appointment. Don't go pretending you give a toss about England Jamie - CLICK HERE
Lastly, Deloitte have published their list of the wealthiest clubs in Europe, and we're looking quite nice in at number thirty on the list, mainly due to a 21% rise in revenue to £79.4m. Hopefully we'll see some of that spent on a new striker in a few months time. For more - CLICK HERE
