Welcome back for a Tuesday edition of The Roker Roundup. It's your daily SAFC news-bundle basically. We hope you enjoy it.
So it's the 28th of February, as it has been all day, so let's see what's happening on this fine day. Today of course was noted in history for being the day the first Gulf War ended in 1991, and in 1925 we defeated Liverpool 3-0. Charlie Buchan scored twice that day, on his way to becoming the first SAFC player in our history to score 200 goals for the club.
Back to more modern matters, here's today's news...
The Blackburn Rovers away match has been re-arranged. It was due to be played on March 17th, but due to us being class in the FA Cup, it's been moved to the 20th of March, 3 days later than the original date - CLICK HERE
Martin O'Neill's inspiring words have spread across the globe. Maxwell Kondadu, manager of Asante Kotoko and recent visitor to the Academy Of Light has spoken of how he felt honoured by O'Neill's presence, and feels highly inspired by his organisation and methods as the league season resumes in Ghana - CLICK HERE
Gary Rowell has been speaking ahead of the derby game this weekend, and he's well placed to speak about them having played in his fair share, and indeed scored a hat-trick in one of them. He's remained relatively coy, but said that we need to be at our best in a short column for the Sunderland Echo - CLICK HERE
Asamoah Gyan remains likely to stay in the UAE for the foreseeable future. Martin O'Neill has once again stated he still hasn't spoken to the Ghanaian striker, and whilst his current club Al-Ain want to make the move permanent, another club out there are also sniffing about - CLICK HERE
Whilst we're on all things African, some kind hearted souls have donated their old SAFC kits to charity. More than 500 were collected, and are to go over to Kenya to local side Sunderland AFC Keroche, and their youth teams. It's a great story, and one we featured on our site yonks ago, but nice it's coming to fruition - CLICK HERE
Ahead of the weekend's derby The Chronical have compiled some stats ahead of the game. It's not pretty reading, nor is the first half of the article, but it is nonetheless interesting, so give it some time - CLICK HERE
