Official: Reading Game Rescheduled

The Reading game - postponed due to a waterlogged pitch back in August - has a new date.

The washed-out Premier League home game against Reading has officially been rescheduled. The club has announced that it will now take place on 11 December (7:45 kick off), weather permitting, of course...

The game was originally supposed to be Sunderland's first home game of the season back in August but fell victim to the weather as heavy rain lashed Wearside.

The postponement caused some surprise and even controversy at the time, with some - Royals manager Brian McDermott included - suggesting The Stadium of Light ground staff were at fault for failing to ensure the game went ahead.

Strange UEFA rules limiting midweek league fixtures during weeks earmarked for European competition had made rearranging the game difficult, as had both clubs continued involvement in the League Cup. But with both crashing out of the competition this week, the game has now been cleared to go ahead the week of the Quarter Finals.

Personally, I'm just glad that we now have a solid date in place. Keep your fingers crossed for a dry week!
