Fan Focus: FA Cup Special With The Posh Blog

Welcome to another edition of Fan Focus where we speak to fans, witers, bloggers and journalists who cover our opposition, to give us their thoughts on the game ahead.

Even when it comes to the FA Cup, we've still unearthed a gem of a site to chat with about the game, and thats "The Posh Blog" and in particular the editor of the blog, Kelly Green.

Kelly gave us some great insight to what's happening down at Peterborough United as you might be able to guess from the questions, I know little to nothing about how their doing. Finding out is exactly the beauty of this feature so come and read what Kelly had to say...

I see The Posh are hovering around mid-table in the Championship at the moment. How's the season going so far from your point of view?

Kelly: We're having the dream start to the season. Last time we were in The Championship we were locked to the bottom of the table at this stage of the season and never left that position so obviously purely staying in the division was our aim this time around. It's great to see how well the team has adapted this time and that this time we're not going down without a fight. On Monday we were disappointed not to come away with three points against Birmingham, that just shows how far we've come with such a young side.

Darren Ferguson's in the hotseat of course, how's he doing as manager?

Kelly: We couldn't ask for anyone better as a manger, he has to be one of the best managers we have ever had at the club. Everything just seems to work perfectly; his selection, formation, substitutions, he knows exactly what to do to change a game. Also importantly Ferguson and our chairman Darragh MacAnthony understand each other perfectly and have a great policy of signing young hungry players going on.

Are you at all worried there'd ever be a Preston situation where by if he left, so would the likes of Ryan Tunnicliffe?

Kelly: If Fergie was to leave again then we could expect all the United youngsters to quickly follow but there's no fear he will be leaving anytime soon. Of course having players from Man United is a bonus but we're not reliant on them if they were to leave we would have cover. Our main worry is hanging on to Tunnicliffe when his loan expires in January.

What if anything are you looking for in the January transfer window, and can you throw any names at us?

Kelly: Personally I would like to see a forward come in as we still haven't managed to find anyone to fill the gap left by Craig Mackail-Smith. Our squad is small and quite a few times throughout the season we have had to call on our youth team to help fill the bench. Management have said numerous times that they aren't looking to sign anyone but I think that's just a poker face.

Ahead of the game, are The Posh fans confident of an upset?

Kelly: I wouldn't say we're confident but London Road is our stomping ground and on our best days we're as good as anything that is thrown at us, it all depends what mentality our players take into the game. Comebacks are our speciality so as long as we don't go behind too much anything can happen. Last time we were on TV we won 7-1 so that's a good omen. This is the third season running we've faced Premiership opposition, we lost against Tottenham and Fulham so it's third time lucky hopefully.

I don't know all that much about the Peterborough squad if I'm honest, who should we be on guard against this weekend?

Kelly: The first name that comes to mind is stand in captain George Boyd, his name is also one of the first names on the team sheet and is someone the opposition always fear. Recently our centre-backs Gabriel Zakuani and Ryan Bennett have been a rock so hopefully they continue to halt anything that is thrown at them. We also have a couple of pacey forwards, Emile Sinclair and Paul Taylor, who are unknown at this level but are making a name for themselves.

It's not a game where there's a huge gap between our clubs position-wise but is there anyone you're looking forward to seeing from our side?

Kelly: I'm a sucker for seeing big names so I can see I've seen them play in real life so personally I'm looking forward to seeing Nicklas Bendtner.

Lastly, give us a prediction for the game...

Kelly: I'll go for a sneaky 2-1 win to us. I can dream anyway.
