Roker Riches: SAFC v Liverpool Betting Preview

Now then, this is usually Gavin Callaghan's gig, but what with him being a betting man both for pleasure and employment, he's currently unavailable as he's away at the Cheltenham Festival. Gavin's had a hugely successful time tipping many a winner at the Festival, so hopefully I can live up to his high standards and give you some winners too this weekend on the footballing side of things...

This week we entertain Liverpool after what feels like an age off, but it sure does feel good to be back.

Games against Liverpool have been mired in controversy of late, what with the beach ball incident at the Stadium Of Light the other year, and this season at Anfield, the freekick/non-freekick which lead to a goal for Fernando Torres.

However, both teams are much changed since then, and SAFC have slightly faltered, whilst Liverpool have surged up the league. Both teams have also lost key personnel in Darren Bent and Fernando Torres, but both share the thoughts that they are currently better off without them.

As for the game this weekend, SAFC will surely go in with the upperhand. A full house at the Stadium of Light, combined with Liverpool coming off a disappointing Europa League exit at the hands of Braga.

From a betting perspective I fancy the game to be a close one, and there looks to be value in a 1-1 draw at 11/2. I'm also gonna combine that with the double result of Draw-Draw at 4/1 which returns £325 for your tenner.

NOT Callaghan's Best Bet - Correct Score 1-1 doubled with Draw-Draw @63/2

You may remember that we spoke to Rachel Wyse from Sky Sports News recently about her charity race at the Cheltenham Festival. Rachel competed in the St Patricks Day Derby on Thursday, and depsite finishing unplaced, she raised over £11,000 pounds for charity, so The Roker Report extends our congratulations to her and the team.

Be lucky everyone, who ever you bet on this weekend, and don't forget to follow @Gavin_Callaghan on Twitter for all the top tips. However, if this week's tip fails, feel free to blame @SimoWalsh.
