Roker Riches - Tottenham Hotspur (H) Betting Preview

Wanna get rich? I know I do. So follow our tipsters; Gavin Callaghan - the expert, and the punter, Mrs Roker Report. Can Gavin beat the babe this week? We'll have to find out...

For me last season’s match between Sunderland and Tottenham was one of the greatest games to be played at the Stadium of Light. It had everything; an ex-player coming back to haunt a club, penalties, controversy, an opposition manager the Sunderland board love to hate, a nervy finish and a sublime Bolo Zenden winner. It was an afternoon that reaffirmed your love of football.

Sunderland fans are in need of some love right now following back-to-defeats. Last weekend’s sucker punch at Stoke will live long in the memory of Steve Bruce, especially considering the actual bodily harm offences which took place inside the Red & White penalty area.

In Spurs we face a different task. With a resurgent Liverpool, the pressure is on Harry Redknapp to get his team firing again. With one eye on AC Milan in midweek, this could prove to be a fantastic time to play the North London club, and what is more, Harry Rednapp has a disastrous record in the North East.

I fancy Sunderland to return to winning ways and for Sessegnon to open his account. The Benin striker has looked lively in his first couple of games, and although last weekend would have been a shock to his system, Tottenham have only kept two clean sheets all season in the league and their defence is shakey at best.

Four points from a possible six will do nicely at the Black Cats embark on a difficult run of games which will define much of our season. Here is how I think the money will be won.

  • Sunderland to win 7/4
  • Sessegnon to score first at 10/1

(Sandra Redknapp to score last at 1,000,000/1)

Broadcasters and commentators are always big on our stats and here is one for you. Sunderland have tended to take the lead in home games between the 1st and 18th minute of games. I would bet that the first goal is scored tomorrow between 11-20th minute at 4/1.

At least this season Sunderland and Spurs fans will have one thing in common… I never liked Darren Bent either.

Callaghan's Best Bets: Sessegnon first goal @ 10/1 and SAFC win @7/4

Mrs Roker Report's Best Bets: Gyan first goal, Spurs win 2-1 @ 125/1
