For weeks everyone has been clamoring for the team to show some backbone and show some respect for the fans. How many times did I read that the players were letting us down and showed no commitment to the club or the fans.
Well I was there on Sunday to see the team deliver for the third game in a row. Every game a proverbial cup final and they ran, chased, passed and scored with the passion we have craved all season. They all gave their commitment to the club and the fans but on Sunday a sizeable number of the fans - I would guess 10,000 or more - threw it back in their faces because leaving 10 minutes early to avoid sitting in traffic was far more important than showing their appreciation to a team that has scrapped and fought to deliver (almost there) that miracle Gus asked for.
How much does it cost to be a little later home or into the pub compared to maintaining the atmosphere in the ground and raising the roof in appreciation of a great team performance.
Come on lads - let's stop this shameful habit and show some true support right to the end and some respect to the players.
