Euphoria....Avoiding the Wigan Stigma

Events and results over the past week have changed a lot of people's opinion on how the season will end. If past experience is anything to go by, we may still cock-it-up!! Hopefully we will learn something from how Wigan handled (or didn't handle) it. After the high of beating Manchester City in the FA Cup, they lost their last game and were relegated. Beating Chelsea put us all on a high, and now we must be careful to not fall into the same trap. I think the way to do that is to approach our remaining games the same way, and not get carried away with our own self importance....no matter if we think it is true or not. Other teams owe us nothing, so having the self belief that we are unbeatable is not the way to go forward. To go out there and fight for every ball and every second ball is vital to a positive end to the season (whether we stay up or not). I believe Wigan went into that last game thinking they just had to show up (now that the football gods had deemed them FA Cup winners) and all would be right in their world! We must NOT think that we just have to show up (as Chelsea did) in our 4 remaining games, as this league can be very cruel to those that think they have the right to just show up. I hope Gus will keep them focused, and keep doing the same things, with our feet firmly planted, in order to put this disaster of a season behind us.
