I recently seen a post on a Sunderland Facebook page, asking if Danny Graham should be taken back. About 25 people commented, all with resounding 'no's' some going as far as calling him a scumbag and the worst player they've ever seen in all their years going to watch Sunderland. Right, he didn't exactly set the world alight in his 6 months in and around the first team, but this is a man who scored seven goals off the bench for Swansea in a half-season. He can be Premier League quality, and I think the Sunderland fans have a lot more reason to dislike Steven Fletcher at the minute. His performances have ranged from ineffectual sometimes, to absolute garbage other times. Graham won't score any less than Fletcher has recently, and judging by his performances for us, Hull and Boro since, he'd have a larger impact. Look at our 3-0 win over Newcastle in 2013. He didn't score, but he absolutely bossed the Geordie defense, and had a hand in Sessegnon's goal by drawing Centre-Back out of position with a diagonal run. He's proven he's a good player, but he's said himself there was more going on at Sunderland when he arrived than anything he's used to. 6 weeks with O'Neil, not much longer with Di Canio, then out on loan. I'm not saying he's the solution to our attacking problems because he's not. He's not a world class striker or a poacher, but he'd do a job here now. There'd be effort in his performances to try and stake a claim in the team, and he'd have more effect on the game than Fletcher if he lay down in the centre circle. There's just no need for the amount of abuse he gets off us for a slightly underperforming 6 months.
