Survival is possible but there can be no mistakes....

Let’s assume that 40 points will guarantee safety.

If Sunderland manage to win 9 more games that will return 27 points. Add this to the 14 points that we have already and that will be 41 points.

Of our remaining games the following ten are at home and all but the Everton game are definitely winnable – even the Everton game is a possible win. A maximum of 30 available.

In reality we will not win all 10 but if we win 6, draw 3 and lose 1 that will be a return of 21 points

01.01.14 – Aston Villa

18.01.14 – Southampton

28.01.14 – Stoke City

08.01.14 – Hull City

01.03.14 – West Brom

15.03.14 – Crystal Palace

29.03.14 – West Ham

26.03.14 – Cardiff City

12.04.14 – Everton

11.05.14 – Swansea City

Of the 9 remaining away games there is the Fulham and the Norwich game where we could pick up points. The other games seems unlikely but you never know and the derby throws up some strange results. If we pick up 2 to 4 points from these that will realistic.

11.01.14 – Fulham

01.02.14 – Newcastle

12.02.14 – Man City

22.02.14 – Arsenal

08.03.14 – Liverpool

22.03.14 – Norwich

05.04.14 – Spurs

19.04.14 – Chelsea

03.05.14 – Man Utd

A return of 25 points from the remaining games is realistic. This will give a total of 39 points. Probably enough based on recent history.
