Aston Villa Vs Sunderland: Confirmed Lineups

Michael Regan

The teamsheets are in for tonight's crunch clash against Aston Villa at Villa Park. A win should see Sunderland virtually safe from relegation but Villa need every point they can get at the moment...

Paolo Di Canio had made two changes to the side that beat Everton 1-0, bringing Phil Bardsley and Craig Gardner back into the fold after their respective absences. Gardner returns in the middle of the pitch, partnering Alfred N'Diaye, with Seb Larsson starting on the left hand side. Jack Colback and James McClean drop to the bench.

Sunderland (4-4-2): Simon Mignolet; Phil Bardsley, John O'Shea (C), Carlos Cuellar, Danny Rose; Adam Johnson, Alfred N'Diaye, Craig Gardner, Seb Larsson; Stephane Sessenon, Danny Graham

Substitutes: Keiren Westwood, Matt Kilgallon, Kader Mangane, David Vaughan, Jack Colback, James McClean, Mikael Mandron.

Meanwhile Paul Lambert has made just one change from the side that lost at Old Trafford last Monday, with part-time Seaham Hall Hotel resident Charles N'Zogbia dropping to the bench to be replaced by Frechman Yacouba Sylla.

N'Zogbia is joined on the subs bench by Darren Bent, who regrets nothing.

Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Brad Guzan; Matthew Lowton, Nathan Baker , Ron Vlaar (C), Joe Bennett; Ashley Westwood, Fabian Delph; Yacouba Sylla, Andreas Weimann, Gabriel Agbonlahor; Christian Benteke

Substitutes: Shay Given, Eric Lichaj, Brett Holman, Charles N'Zogbia, Darren Bent, Jordan Bowery, Barry Bannan
