Sunderland Vs Fulham: Player Ratings

Ian MacNicol

As we do every week, we recap and review the performances of every single soul who pulled on the shirt. You might agree, you probably won't. Take a read right here...

Simon Mignolet - 8

Not one of his special games but he certainly produced a special moment when he proved to be the difference between going 3-1 down and leveling to make it 2-2.

Craig Gardner - 6

His defending was a little naive for the penalty, which can be forgiven under the circumstances, but he was desperately unlucky to see it awarded against him. Thwacked away his own spot-kick with ruthless aplomb, however, and energy levels were excellent.

John O'Shea - 6

Generally solid enough without really standing out of dominating. Pretty much John O'Shea in a nutshell.

Titus Bramble - 5

Very poor with the ball at his feet (barely scraped a 65% pass completion). Not responsible for any goals for once, though it was another performance which had you scratching your head wondering what on earth he has to do in order to get dropped.

Jack Colback - 5

Too easily beaten without being enough of a factor going forward to compensate. Again, context shouldn't be ignored but neither should the fact that without Danny Rose the full back positions are becoming a serious achilles heel.

Stephane Sessegnon - 8

The best Sunderland player by a reasonable distance. Ran at people at every opportunity and always looked like he might create something. Produced a finish of genuine class on his weaker side for the equalizer, too.

Alfred N'Diaye - 6

You could tell the Frenchmen is getting up to speed with the Premier League. It was noticeable that he was holding on to the ball a fraction less and looked generally much sharper than recent weeks. An all-round impressive midfield performance.

Seb Larsson - 7

The Swede is much-maligned in the centre of the Sunderland midfield this season but this was a very accomplished performance. He tackled well and kept the ball moving with a degree of efficiency. Larsson is probably - and hopefully - not the future, but a nice solid contribution today.

Adam Johnson - 6

He looked more inclined to attack players with a little pace and menace though the delivery badly let him down. If he is going to stay on the left wing, that needs a lot of work.

Steven Fletcher - 6

Constantly involved but not really the influence we know he can be. Solid, but unspectacular.

Danny Graham - 5

On the periphery of the game and failed to impress on his first home start. Looks to be lacking in fitness, although some of his hold-up play was neat enough.

James McClean - 6

I thought the controversial Irishman did very well when he came on. Flashed some very dangerous balls across the box that put Johnson to shame.

Man Of The Match - Stephane Sessegnon

Sess has seriously re-found his groove in recent weeks and this was a superb performance. He was straight into the game from the off and proved to be a constant thorn in Fulham's side. Seems to be hitting a nice spell of form for the run-in.
