O'Neill Hopeful On Rose Injury Concern

Scott Heavey

Danny Rose had to limp out of the action against Arsenal yesterday but hopefully he won't be out for too long according to Martin O'Neill and his medical team.

At long last Danny Rose is back in the team, or at least he was for a while before he was unfortunately struck down with yet another hamstring injury in the second half of yesterday's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal.

However the early news on Rose is positive according to Martin O'Neill, who told the club's official website post-match that things aren't as bad as last time when he was kept out of action for a few weeks;

It's a bit of a hamstring injury, but I've just spoken to the physio who doesn't think it's as serious as the one before. That's encouraging but we'll see how he is in the next few days.

It could be a blessing in disguise that we've got time on our hands next weekend having been dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of Bolton Wanderers last month, giving Rose plenty of time to recover.

If he can't make it back by the next outing for Sunderland away at West Bromwich Albion in two weeks time then we'll have to revert to playing Jack Colback at left back, which could mean there's a return to midfield for Seb Larsson from the start.

Here's hoping it does't come to that. No offence to Any of the above named, it's just Rose is a superb player that makes us so much better on both an attacking and defensive front.
