Two More Leave On Loan

Chris Brunskill

Connor Wickham has joined Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season, while Liam Marrs has joined Boston United.

Connor Wickham has once again linked up with Sheffield Wednesday after agreeing to join the Owls on loan until the end of 2013. Wickham spent time on loan at the Yorkshire side last season too.

Wickham has barely had a look in for Sunderland this season, with only a few fleeting substitute appearances to his name, and certainly a downgrade on what he might have been expecting.

With Gus Poyet very keen on a pairing of Jozy Altidore and Steven Fletcher, there appears to be little room for Wickham, who has underwhelmed despite a bucket load of potential since an £8m move from Ipswich Town.

The move is also a boost for the likes of Fabio Borini and Ji Dong-Won, who are both now firmly ahead of Wickham on Wearside, and look set to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile fellow youngster Liam Marrs has joined Boston United of the Skrill(ex) Premier. The young right-back, who has yet to feature in the first team barring a couple of unused substitute roles will get some valuable first team experience which will be a big boost to his hopes of taking the next step into the first team set-up.

Both players are expected to make their debuts this weekend.
