Sunderland To Face Morecambe In Capital One Cup 2nd Round

Maybe this fella will be turning up, who knows. Should be easy to spot anyway.

The second round of the Captial One Cup - that's the latest name for the League Cup - has been made this lunchtime and will see Sunderland pitted against fellow seaside opposition in the form of Morecambe FC.

The game will be at the Stadium Of Light at some point in the week starting August 27th, with ticket details and information set to be announced in the not too distant future. It seems highly unlikely that the game will be moved for TV, but stranger things have happened.

Our League Two opponents don't boast any particularly known household names, however it's worth noting that former Sunderland reserve team winger Neil Wainwright was with the club for a prolonged period until recently, while Gateshead born striker Richard Brodie has recently arrived from Crawley Town on loan.

The tie offers Sunderland an excellent chance to make it through to the third round where the teams in Europe this season join the competition and things heat up a little. It would be nice to not have an early exit this time around.
