The Roker Roundup: March 27th 2012 - Financial Results & The McClean Clause

News me. News me like you should.

Yup, we're back once again like renegade masters. Hello! It's the Roker Roundup! Your top place to find all the SAFC news worth reading today.

However, here's what happened on this very day in history. In 1894, goals from Wilson, Gibson, Gillespie, and an own goal from Shaw saw Sunderland beat Darwen 4-0 in a Division One match at the Newcastle Road ground. 5 years later, Darwen disappeared from the football league. The club was wound up in 2009 and reformed as phoenix club AFC Darwen. They currently play in Divison One of the North West Counties League.

Back to today though, this is how it's been going down...

The club could be looking at buying out James McClean's sell-on clause. At the moment Derry City are owed 15% of any future transfer, but with the winger soaring at the moment, that 15% could end up being a significant amount. Whether Derry are up for this or not remains to be seen - CLICK HERE

Jonathan Wilson, top journalist and someone we'd like to call a friend of the site, has written another top class article looking just how Martin O'Neill has managed to bring about a change in fortunes at the Stadium Of Light this season. A very good read indeed - CLICK HERE

Speaking of O'Neill, he's backing Jack Colback to put himself into contention for the England squad over the next year or two. There's absolutely no reason why not if he keeps up his current form - CLICK HERE

The club have announced their financial results for the years end today. Money is still down, but looking at things overall, revenue is up which is a major plus point - CLICK HERE

The Stadium Of Light will play host to the FA Carlsberg Sunday League Cup Final on April 29th - CLICK HERE
