The Roker Roundup: March 22nd 2012 - SAFC Chase Armand & Pogrebnyak, According To Reports

I'm a creep, I'm a roundup...

It's Thursday, and it's time to get on down with all the interesting SAFC news and articles that have hit the webs today. Yes, I said webs.

Today's March 22nd, and on this very day, Chris Waddle finally made his debut for Sunderland nearly 18 years after being rejected by the club following a 2 week trial. Sunderland faced Nottingham Forest at Roker Park in a relegation scrap but neither could pick up the vital win and, 5 weeks later, both were relegated.

Back to today in 2012 though, here's today's news...

So we'll start off with a bit of transfer gossip. Reports coming out of France suggest we're looking to make a move for PSG defender Sylvain Armand. He's a 31 year old fullback. Apparently he was rubbish last season, but doing better this season. For more - CLICK HERE

Were you unhappy with the Blackburn game? Well so was Martin O'Neill, as David Vaughan reveals MON was 'the maddest he'd ever seen' following the game. Looks like there was a few backsides kicked, and a better performance is on the way against QPR - CLICK HERE

18 year old youth team keeper Lewis King has moved on loan to Conference side Stockport County, and could make his debut for the club this coming weekend - CLICK HERE

More loan news now, and young left-back Blair Adams will be staying at Northampton Town until the end of the season - CLICK HERE

Meanwhile Al-Ain have been looking at the future of Asamoah Gyan, but decided it's just too soon to be talking about whether or not he'll stay in the Middle East. Yes, they're talking about not talking about it. Sounds like someone wants to make a move - CLICK HERE

A very young Sunderland reserve side were beaten 2-1 yesterday by Fulham, who included a few first-teamers in their lineup. A good experience, but bad in our bid for the reserve league title - CLICK HERE

Back on the transfer trail, there's a rumour abound that we're going to make a move for Fulham's Pavel Pogrebnyak, although we'll face stiff competition from Aston Villa as we look to secure the big Russian's services. Might be a good move, but I'll wait and see how his season goes first after a good start before judging - CLICK HERE
