Angeleri In Line For Games

Argentine National Team boss Sergio Batista has hinted that this is Marcos Angeleri's moment to prove himself, as the team prepare for games in the USA against Costa Rica, and the USA themselves.

Batista is on the search for a replacement for the aging Javier Zanetti, and whilst he labelled fellow right-back Ivan Pillud of Racing the "natural successor" to Zanetti, he did say that Angeleri will get a chance on the US tour.

Pillud is in line to play for a 'local' team, aka a team comprised entirely of players from the Argentine league against Venuzuela just days prior to the USA tour, and Batista appreciates that all three games would be too much of an ask for the 24 year old.

Pillud will see some action, however so will our man Marcos, as the only other right-back in the squad. Batista had wanted to call-up Pablo Zabaleta of Manchester City, however due to injury, Angeleri has been given an unlikely chance.

Fingers crossed he gets, takes it, and proves to either be a useful acquisition for SAFC, or puts himself in the shop window.

The Roker Report will be keeping an eye out on both the games to see if Angeleri does get a chance, hopefully he'll get at least one full game so we can see what he's about.
